Working as an engineer, I was going to be sent to Kuajalein Atoll in the Pacific Test Range in the Marshall Islands with my Radar unit for 2 years. At the time, I was working with Judy Resnick, the late astronaut, whose father was an Optometrist and I got to know him. When I saw that Kuaj was 14 hours west of Hawaii, I decided to go to Optometry school for 4 more years.
